JUST ONE MINUTE
In his book "Love and Responsibility," St. John Paul II spoke of the demands of love, and how as love increases, so the sense of responsibility for the other increases. Authentic love includes responsibility, and often that responsibility is transformative and draws the best out of us. In the Gospel (John 14:23), Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever loves me will keep my word...” Jesus is loving, and his love is demanding. Listening to and following Jesus’ words and commands is transformative.
Reflection: Take a few minutes today and notice how Jesus loves you. Notice how you love like Jesus. Notice how love is demanding and draws the best out of you. Notice how love without responsibility is not loving as Jesus loves.

St. Joan of Arc
May 30
At age 12, Joan of Arc (1412-1431) had visions of the Archangel Michael, St. Margaret and St. Catherine of Alexandria instructing her to support the king of France in the Hundred Years War against the English. She joined the fight and quickly made an impact but was captured by the English, put on trial for heresy, found guilty and burned to death May 30, 1431, at just 19 years old. She was rehabilitated by a papal commission in 1456 and canonized in 1920. Today she is an icon of France and the Church.

DAVE SAYS
Sell cars or move home
My wife and I are in our late 20s, and we have two kids. Our combined income is about $110,000 a year, but we have $70,000 in loans on two cars, plus about $15,000 in credit card debt. My in-laws have offered to let us move in with them to save money while we pay down debt. Do you think this is a good idea?
Keep your dignity, sell the cars.

QUOTE UNQUOTE
"We are all one Church, so while we in Arkansas are proud of Bishop-elect Pohlmeier and sending him to Florida will be a great sacrifice for us, we rejoice in the good fortune of the Diocese of St. Augustine and know that the Lord must love them very much to give them such a fine man to be their next bishop."
— Bishop Anthony B. Taylor on
Father Erik Pohlmeier
